NEW DELHI : 50 personnel from National Disaster Response Force(NDRF) involved in rescue efforts in West Bengal during Cyclone Umpun test positive for COVID-19.
According to the agency, at least 170 of its members are ill on their return to their base in Cuttack, Odisha, after the operations in West Bengal. The personnel were tested based on contact tracing after one among them initially tested positive for the virus.
Incidentally, nearly all who turned out infected exhibit no symptoms of the illness. More tests are being carried out. Those found positive have been hospitalised in isolation wards.
