Unnao Rape Case : Court Finds Former BJP MLA Guilty In Victim’s Father’s Death

NEW DELHI : A court in Delhi on Wednesday, found former BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar guilty of causing  death to  father of Unnao rape victim, in October of last year. 11 persons including Sengar were indicted in the case, of whom seven have been pronounced guilty and four let off. The Thees Harari court in Delhi, which delivered the sentence, came down heavily on the doctors who treated the man before he died.

On 9th of October 2018. the Unnao rape victims father died in police custody. The family accused Sengar of killing him. Before the girl’s father could be picked up by police, Sengar and his henchman had assaulted him brutally - a fact admitted by Sengar himself.  11 persons incuding Sengar, his brother Ethul, baouria, SI Kamde Pasad and Constable Ameer Khar were arraigned in the case. The seven convicted have been found guilty of culpable homicide not murder.

Sengar, who was convicted for raping the Unnao girl is currently undergoing  life imprisonment. There is one more related case pending against Sengar for having a truck crash into  the car in which, the rape victim and her family were travelling.
