Mumbai : Heavy rains wrecked havoc in Mumbai killing at least 36 people in various parts of the mega city. Also, 30 persons remain trapped from devastating upheavals including landslides, the national media reported.
Landslides were reported from Sakhar Suthar Vadi and Talai. A building collapsed in the suburbs killing a family of four and injuring seven. Rescue operations are underway at the site.
Several villages in Raigad became isolated in flooding following heavy downpours and the Maharashtra government said it sought assistance from the army for its rescue efforts. Train services on Konkan line were partially suspended owing to rains. A parked bus was swept away by river that broke its banks in Kolhapur.
