Will Quit Politics Once Polls Are Over, Says Tipra Motha President

Agartala : In an unexpected twist to poll campaign, the Tipra Motha president Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb Burman announced he would quit politics after elections. The surprise decision came announced while Pradyot addressed the culmination of election rally on Tuesday.

Deb Burman, a Tripura royal,  said  once polls scheduled for 16 February takes place, , he will never ask for votes as  king. He was addressing crowds in  Charilam constituency where Tripura Deputy Chief Minister and another member of the royal family Jishnu Deb Burman are contesting polls. In his address, Pradyot  accused a section of party leaders of betraying him.

Quitting politics is for sure once poll results are announced on the  2nd of March, said Pradyot, adding that,  he will however always be there for the people. Pradyot said he will continue to work for health, education and scholarships of the poor. The fight would will not be for royal family, rather for people deprived of rights, Pradyot Deb Burman said.
