Ahmedabad : : Gujarat hooch tragedy on Sunday night has claimed 24 lives so far while 30 remain in critical condition, of whom 5 are barely clinging to life. The victims are admitted into hospitals in Bottad, Bav Nagar and Ahmedabad.
10 have been arrested for sale of the deadly booze. All victims of the spurious country-made liquor are village folks. A man named Jayesh has been identified as supplier of methanol used in the manufacture of the hooch. He is godown manager of a company named EMOS from where he stealthily sold 600 litres of methanol to his relative Sanjay for concocting the deadly booze.
Gujarat has banned manufacture, sale or consumption of alcohol. However, that remains on paper and just that, said Arvind Kejriwal who arrived on a 2-day visit to the state. With Ashirwad from BJP leaders hooch sells freely in the state, said Kejriwal.
