New Delhi : The wrestlers have ended their 6-month long protest on streets against BJP MP Brij Bhushan for alleged stalking and sexual harassment of their young female members. In a press conference during the day, Sakshi Malik, Banjrang Punia and Venesh Phogat said the battle  will now continue in court. The wrestling stars said they have ended their protests following visible progress in assurances given by the Centre during talks.

Early this month, the wrestlers had attended training camp  for upcoming Asian Games and World Championships. The demonstrations are being withdrawn in view of filing of  chargesheet and  the announcement of Federations elections.. In the meantime, the players on Monday urged the Centre to allow more time for championship trials. The request letter was signed by Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, Satyavarth Katian, Sangeeta Phogat, Jitender kumar and  Vinesh Phogat.

The Asian Games are scheduled for September. The players indicated they needed to regain their athleticism after remaining at strike venue for over five months.  Enemies are trying to crack the unity of wrestlers, said Vinesh Phogat. The wrestlers will stay away from social media for a while, he added.

Meanwhile, Brij Bhushan responded to the withdrawal saying, let court decide the matter.
