Barcelona took home another win in the Champions League group stage. This time, a 2 - 0 victory against Juventus. The Italian giant, however was missing its most key player, Cristiano Ronaldo, who tested positive for Covid on 13 of October. The Portuguese superstar needed to test negative 24 hours before to game to be in attendance. Cristiano who reportedly tested positive again, was furious at not being able to face off against Messi’s Barcelona. The two football stars had not locked horns ever since Ronaldo moved to Juventus in 2018.

Barcelona kicked off to a good start with Ousmane Dembele scoring their first goal a quarter of an hour in. Juve put a fierce fight with Alvaro Morata scoring 3 times, only to be denied for being offside after VAR reviews.  As an already frustrating match for Juve reached its final minutes, the Italian club was down to just 10 men after Demiral received his second yellow card and was sent off. The game climaxed with Messi scoring Barcelona’s second goal from a penalty at 90+1 minutes.

“This is our best game all season, I am very happy with the game and character displayed by the ream, it is a great victory” Said Barca coach Ronald Koeman

Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo took his first defeat gracefully, going on to say “We knew it  would be a difficult game, they are further along the path, they have players more experienced in these games, while we are under construction. We need to grow. I hope to have the other players come back soon”

The reverse fixture will take place on December 8, where Juventus will face Barca at the Camp Nou. Cristiano Ronaldo, the top scorer in the history of the champions league is set to face his rival on Barca’s home ground.
