Ranchi : Following BJP’s massive defeat in the Jharkhand Assembly elections, the party state president, Laxman Giluwa resigned from his post yesterday. . The ruling BJP was pushed out of power in Jharkhand as it ended up with a tally of 25 while the JMM-led alliance secured 47 seats, crossing the majority mark comfortably and forming govt in the state.
Giluva , who contested from Chakradarpur constituency, lost the seat to Jharkhand Mukti Morcha(JMM) leader Sukram Oraon. The devastating series of defeats also saw Chief Minister Rajghubar Das, Speaker and several ministers lose at the polls. Rahghubar Das was toppled by BJP dissident Saryu Rai, in Jamsedpur constituency.
According to sources, Giluwa submitted his resignation to the party’s national president Amit Shah on Wednesday. The exit is likely to be followed by resignation by many more leaders who put up dismal performance at the polls.
