MS Dhoni Retires

NEW DELHI :  MS Dhoni,  in an Instagram post late last evening, announced  retirement from international cricket. The former Indian team captain had quit Test series earlier in 2014 and the present   announcement marks end of  an illustrious playing career spanning 16 years.

The 39-year-old has been one of the best wicket-keepers in internationals and played for India in the World Cup 2019 semi-final loss to New Zealand at Old Trafford in Manchester.

“Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout from 19:29 hrs consider me as Retired,” Dhoni wrote in the post of a montage capturing his career with the national team.

Dhoni has played 350 One-Day-Internationals(ODIs) and 98 T20 Internationals(T20Is). He scored 10,773 runs at an average of 50.57 over 350 ODIs and has 10 centuries and 73 fifties to his credit. In T20Is,  Dhoni amassed 1617 runs in 98 matches at an average of 37.60, including two half-centuries.

Under Dhoni’s captaincy, India won the 50-over World Cup in 2011 and World Twenty20 in 2017. He also scored India the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 in England.
