Speculation is rife on Cristiano Ronaldo’s possible transfer to Paris Saint-Germain. Leonardo Araújo, PSG’s sporting director, on being asked about the move replied: “Today in football we do not know what will happen. Maybe tomorrow Cristiano wakes up and says I want to play elsewhere,”

“Who can buy him? It’s a closed circle. PSG enters this circle. Usually it’s about opportunities and situationsThe transfer window, we have to prepare for it and that’s what we do. We have our priorities, our lists, but something unforeseen can happen, ” Leonardo added.

The teams still have a long way to go before the transfer window opens in summer 2021. However, PSG will have their opportunity to hold talks with Juve in January, when the winter transfer window opens. Leonardo clarified that PSG will scrutinize all options before the year end, adding that, he is not expecting too much movement in these troubled times where even the biggest clubs are hit financially, with the global pandemic and the struggling economy.

Leonardo also told media,  they were not exactly expecting to play the whole season behind closed doors. Last year the club lost 15 to 20 per cent and the loss could stretch more this year,  he said.  “But honestly, at PSG, there is the capacity and the means to overcome the crisis. The other clubs will perhaps have more difficulty to overcome the crisis. But the ambition here is always enormous,” said Leonardo.
