Senegal forward Sadio Mane will not play in FIFA World Cup 2022 slated to take place in Qatar from 20 November onwards. Senegal, one of the five African countries on the world’s biggest football stage, will now play without their captain.
Sadio Mane made it to the final while recovering from an injury that he picked up during FC Bayern Munich’s match against Werder Bremen. There was speculation about the leg injury but it was largely expected for him to play in Qatar. However, medical evaluation now shows he would be unable to recover in time - a huge blow for African football in general.
