Gold medallist Shooter AVANI Lekhara will bear India’s flag at the Tokyo Paralympics closing ceremony on Sunday. The 19-year-old shooter won two medals during her Paralympics debut. She kicked off with a Gold medal in Women’s 10m Air rifle standing SH1 along with an astounding score of 249.6, equalling the present Paralympics record. She grabbed a bronze medal in the Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Position SH1, making her the first Indian woman to win two Paralympic medals.
Lekhara could earn herself a spot along with Devendra Jhajharia and Joginder Singh Bedi as one of the mist decorated Indian athlete at the Paralympics, if she finishes on the podium during the Mixed 50m Rifle Prone SH1 event on Sunday.
Just 19 years of age, Avani Lekhara is currently World No. 5 in Woman’s 10m Air Rifle standing SH1.
