Sriharikota : The Indian Space Research Organisation(ISRO) is set to launch its first-ever space-based solar observatory Aditya-L1 on 2nd of September.

Aditya-L1 will lift off at 11:50 Indian time from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. If all goes well, the spacecraft will position itself in a halo orbit around the Lagrange point 1(L1) of the Sun-Earth system, approximately 1.5 million kilometers from Earth. Stationed at L1 orbit would mean a continues observation of the Sun that would not be interrupted by eclipses or occultations.

The spacecraft will carry seven payloads to observe the photosphere, chromospheres and outermost layers of the Sun in different wavebands.

The Aditya-L1 mission is hoped to provide some unanswered questions in solar physics such as heting of theSun’s upper atmosphere and impact of the Sun’s radiation on Earth’s atmosphereic dynamics and global climate.

Aditya-L1 has already arrived at Sriharikota. The launch vehicle is Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle(PSLV-XL),
