BAGHDAD : The fallout from General Soleimani’s killing may not be over yet. Three rockets fell inside Baghdad’s Green Zone, a high security area that houses government buildings and foreign missions. Two of them landed near Unites States embassy.
Sirens blared across the zone after rockets made impact. Three rockets were launched from Zafarniyah district outside Baghdad. US has blamed Iran-backed paramilitary groups for the attack, but there is no claim of responsibility yet.
Tensions in Iraq has risen sine US killed Qassem Soleimani, the Iranian military chief, in Baghdad on 3 January. The killing came shortly after protesters in Iraq, allegedly the Iran-backed militia, attacked US embassy in Baghdad in retaliation of US air strikets targeting an Iran-backed militia.
