30 Malayali Nurses Under Observation After Caring For Caronavirus Patients : Saudi Arabia

Riyadh : 30 nurses in Saudi Arabia are being monitored after providing care for patients infected with the deadly Caronavirus. According to reportsm the women have been isolated into special rooms for observation purpose. A preliminary test on their nasal fluids came up negative for the infection.

The nurses reportedly hail from districts of Kottayam and  Pathanamthitta in Kerala.


The United Nation’s Emergency Council has called a meeting Thursday to examine circumstances surrounding the outbreak. In its meeting held last week, there was no decision towards declaring  it an health emergency.


The National Health Commission in China had classified the virus in the Carona genre, last week. The infection has upped ante across the globe after deaths from it continue to rise. North Korea has barred foreign diplomats into the State. As fears over the new virus grow, the Thai President  Tsai Ing Wen urged that Taiwan should not be excluded from world organisations like the UN.

India meanwhile stepped up screening  at its seven international airports across the country.
In Kerala, the Health Department issued alert for the virus across its establishments in the State. Anyone  returning from China should get in touch with the nearest medical college, its notification read

China stepped up preventives after determining that the virus spreads from human to human through air by close contact. The virus infects the respiratory tract and cause symptoms like a runny nose, cough, sore throat and fever.
