Manama: Bahrain confirmed 74 new coronavirus infections, including 66 expatriates from one labour camp, on Thursday.
This brought the total number of active cases in the country to 258, of which three remain critical.
Bahrain recorded 337 recoveries so far, which continues to be the highest recovery rate in the GCC.
The 66 expatriates from Salmanad labour camp who tested positive for coronavirus were moved to treatment facilities including isolation immediately, according to the ministry of health.
The Ministry of health said that it has taken comprehensive preventative measures, including testing all individuals known to have been in contact with positive cases to ensure their safety. Contacts of the new active cases have had their quarantine period extended for an additional two weeks, in line with preventative protocols.
The foreign workers did not leave quarantine while self-isolating at their place of residence, ministry added. All were moved into designated quarantine centres as a precaution.
There has been no community spread of the virus amongst foreign labourers, the ministry said in a statement which carried in the ministry of Health special web page for the COVID updates.
According to reports, about 47 foreign workers from this camp were diagnosed with the infection on Tuesday.
14 Indians infected in Kuwait
25 people, including 14 Indians, were confirmed of coronavirus infections in Kuwait on Thursday, bringing the total cases 342.
The country has announced the recovery of 81 people from the virus. The active cases now stands at 261, including 14 in the intensive care unit. Four cases are in critical condition. As many as 911 people have discharged from ministry quarantines, said the ministry of health.
As of Wednesday, 73 Indians have been diagnosed with the disease in Kuwait.
21 new cases in Oman
The Sultanate of Oman confirmed 21 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, bringing the total cases to 231.
The Ministry of Health confirmed that so far 57 have recovered from the disease and one person has succumbed to the illness.
The ministry urged everyone to adhere to social distancing instructions as well as staying at home and not going out unless necessary.
