Tel Aviv: The Israeli newspaper Haaretz blamed directly Benjamin Netanyahu  and his far-Right govt wholly for  making the Gaza issue dire over time and inviting the war.  Casting the blame solely on Netanyahu, the third most popular newspaper arrayed  the many a event in historical context  that ultimately paved way to the ongoing  war.

Haaretz has consistently written on the racial discrimination perpetrated by Jewish immigrants on Palestinians with support from the government and even before the war started, the newspaper editorial reached its Sunday readers titled “Netanyahu  Is Responsible For Gaza War”.

“The disaster that befell Israel on holiday of Simchat Torah is the clear responsibility of one person - Benjamin Netanyahu. The prime minister, completely failed to identify the dangers he was consciously leading Israel into  establishing a government of annexation and dispossession, when appointing Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben -Gvir to key positions, while embracing a foreign policy that openly ignores the existence and rights of Palestinians, “ the Haaretz  editorial read

The paper also criticises the country’s army and intelligence for underestimating the enemy in terms of capabilities and said there would be a justified demand to replace the Defense Forces and intelligence and take stock in coming days.

In the past, Netanyahu  portrayed himself as a cautious leader,   on vigil to prevent casualties on Israeli side. However, after his last election-win, he replaced the caution policy with a “full-Right government” with moves to annex the West Bank and carry out ethnic cleansing, expanding Jewish settlements on Temple Mount near Al-Aqsa Mosque and made no efforts to cover his plans.

The daily also blamed  Netanyahu’s own issues with corruption for not being able to adequately focus on State affairs. Evading prosecution became more important that attending things of national interest. Besides, the PM also subverted the legal system and meddled with top military and intelligence ranks, who he considered as political rivals, the editorial read.
