In an dramatic comeback, Left candidate Alberto Fernandez has been voted into presidential office in Argentina.
In elections held Sunday, Alberto, a moderate Peronist, secured 45% above the half-way mark defeating incumbent conservative Mauricio Macri.
Also former president Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, who played a key role in Alberto's electoral triumph, won in as vice-president..
After years of pro-right military junta in Argentina, Left came to power in 2004 when Cristina's husband Nestor Kirchner won elections that year.
Later Left continued to rule the country from 2007- 2015 with Cristina as its president.
60-year-old Fernandez is viewed as a pragmatic leader to helm the country at a time when economic crisis and inflation has left a third of Argentina's population in poverty.
