Manama: People arriving in Bahrain will have to do three coronavirus-detecting tests starting from Feb 22 as the country seeking measures to tackle a spike in  Covid cases.

The government also decided to slash the Cvid test fees from BD 40 to BD 36, according to official news agency BNA.

The national taskforce tackling COVID-19 said on Wednesday that all arrivals will continue to undergo PCR testing upon arrival at Bahrain airport and other entry points. They have to undergo a second test five days after arrival and the third test 10 days upon arrival, it added.

It will be applicable to citizens and expats alike. The new decision will come into force on Monday, the national taskforce said.

Currently, travelers arriving in Bahrain need to conduct two Covid tests, on arrival and 10 days later.

This is the second time the Covid-19 test fee has been reduced. Earlier, since July 2020, the fee was BD 60. It was slashed to 40 dinars from December 1st.

Meanwhile, the task force underlined that any passenger whose testing shows a positive result will be contacted by the Health Ministry based on related personal data registered upon arrival in the kingdom.
