Manama : Fee of Covid-19 tests for passengers arriving in Bahrain has been reduced from BD60 to BD40, starting today.
The National Taskforce for Combating Covid-19 last night announced the decision to reduce the charge for the PCR test for citizens, residents, and visitors. The fee will cover the test at the airport as well as the one to be conducted on the 10th day of arrival, official news agency BNA said.
The Taskforce said the reduction of the PCR testing cost will be activated on Tuesday, December 1.
The earlier decision, which came to exist from July 21, made it mandatory for passengers arriving in the country to take two covid-19 tests for BD 60. And Passengers who test negative for coronavirus are required to self-quarantine for 10 days. On August 20, the ministry of health waived the quarantine decision. The passenger has to self-isolate until the result of upon arrival PCR test is confirmed. Those who are positive will be contacted by the Ministry of Health.
All precautionary measures announced previously will still be followed, including activating the “BeAware Bahrain” application for all arrivals, the task force said.
Those residing in the Kingdom for more than ten days should conduct the second PCR test on the tenth day of their stay. If the second test result is positive, the Ministry of Health will be in direct contact with the individual, using the number provided upon arrival into the Kingdom.
The task force stressed that it will continue to review all relevant decisions periodically in a manner that preserves the health and safety of all.
