La Paz/Mexico : In the wake of mass unrest following his resignation, Bolivia’s former President Evo Morales said he was ready “to return to pacify” his country. He was speaking from Mexico where he was provided political asylum.
“If the people ask me, we are ready to return to pacify(Bolivia),” said the left-wing leader.
Meanwhile amid clashes between Morales supporters and riot police, the US backed interim president Jeanine Anez has promised to hold elections soon.
Morales resigned on 10 Nov and left for Mexico, where he took asylum. His resignation followed weeks of protests over a disputed presidential election result. Morales said he was willing to step down “so there would be no more bloodshed.”
