Bolivian President Resigns Amid Right-Wing Coup

La Pax : Defeated at elections, the US backed right wing in Bolivia, mobilised a coup to  oust president Evo Morales. Amid  the chaos, Evo announced his resignation from the presidency after staying in power for 14 years.

I am stepping down for peace and goodwill of the nation, said Evo at the time of his resignation.

The right-wing has been mobilizing anti-Evo protests for quite some time. Police and military force too joined opposition crowd.

Organisation of American Socialists (OAS) mounted baseless accusations pertaining to  elections and moved the opposition and right-wingers to organize country wide anti-Evo protests.

The organizers of these protests claimed to preserve democracy, while their demonstrations more often bore imprint of dictatorship.

 Violent right-wing protesters seized govt media and fired its employees.  The marches and demonstrations  grew violent at several places.

Meanwhile  several lead name  have condemned the takeover.

 Noam Chomsky, a major figure in analytic philosophy, denounced the American backed coup. The Tricontinent Institute of Research director, Vijay Prashad, to condemned the development.
