British Prime Minster Boris Johnson has weathered a non-confidence vote on his leadership though still reeling from voices of dissent from his Conservative party.
Johnson, who scored landslide victory in 2019 fell out of favour after he and staff held protocol-breaking liquor parties in his Downing Street residence while the country was under Covid lockdown.
Today’s win is comes on rather thin ice with 41% of Johnson’s lawmakers casting ballots against him. Of the total lawmakers, 211 voted in favour of Johnson and 148 against- a grim picture given that, Johnson had emerged unassailable after winning the Conservatives’ largest majority in more than three decades.
