Communist Coalition to begin talks on government formation

Kathmandu> Buoyed by the impressive win in provincial and parliamentary elections, CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli and CPN-Maoist Centre Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal will meet to discuss formation of the new government here on Tuesday. The coalition of the two parties  has won 110 of the 165 seats  to the parliament. Communist alliance is ahead in seven out of the nine seats to be announced. Elections to 110 seats are being held in proportional representation  275-member Assembly. Counting to this is continuing.

The Communist Party of Nepal (United Marxist-Leninist) is the single largest party with 76 seats. The ally CPN Maoist Center bagged 34 seats. The ruling Congress party has got only 21 seats. There were 19 seats for the two Madhesi Parties. Three Independents also won.

Prime Ministerial candidate CPN UML leader KP Sharma Oli won by a margin of over 28,000 votes. He got 57,139 votes, which was the highest for a single candidate in this election. CPN Maoist leader Prachanda won with majority over 10,000 votes.
