Manama: Oman Airports has issued guidelines for inbound passengers starting from November 11. As per the circular, all travelers to Oman must get mandatorily a COVID-19 PCR test in the home country 96 hours prior to their entry. The result should be authenticated and certified, acceptable to the authorities concerned.
All passengers need to take a PCR test again upon arrival. Then they have to undergo home quarantine for seven days from the date of arrival. At the end of the quarantine period, on the eighth day, a PCR test has to be repeated.
The results of the PCR test took on landing will be made available within 24 hours through the Tarassud+ app that every arriving passenger needs to have downloaded on their phones. The wristband paired with the smartphone will monitor the movement of the person during the quarantine. Violators meted out fines and other penalties, including deportation.
For those who don’t want to take a PCR test at the end of the 7-day quarantine, the period of quarantine will be continued seven more days, i.e., until the 14th day from the date of arrival. Children below the age of fifteen are exempted from the quarantine, as well as Oman diplomats working abroad and diplomats visiting the country.
According to the circular, if any passenger is found to have a temperature of 38 degrees Celsius or higher during the thermal screening at the airport, they will be asked to go to take the COVID-19 PCR test.
People are barred from meet and greet at the airport terminals. Passengers with special needs and mobility restrictions are exempted from this rule, however, only one assistant is allowed to escort the passenger.
