Manama: The number confirmed coronavirus cases rose to 11,913 with 79 fatalities across the GCC on Friday, while there has been sharp spike in number of patients in UAE-370, followed by Saudi-364.
Saudi Arabia reported three deaths on Friday, while UAE reported two and Bahrain one.
The death toll across the GCC stands as: Saudi Arabia-47, the UAE-16, Qatar-6, Bahrain-6, Oman-3, and Kuwait-1
3 more deaths in Saudi
The number of fatalities from the Covid-19 rose to 47 in Saudi Arabia on Friday, after three more people succumbed to the respiratory disease over the past 24 hours, according to the country’s Health Ministry.
Saudi Arabia had its largest single-day rise yet, with 364 new cases. The number of cases reported in the country is now 3,651.
Recovery rate also increased as 685 people discharged from the hospital across the country, to date. A total of 2,966 patients are currently undergoing treatment including 42 critical patients, Ministry of Health spokesman said in a press briefing.
The highest number of cases were reported in Makkah on Friday with 90 cases. Madinah registered 78, Riyadh-69, Jeddah-54, Tabuk 22 and Qatif 12 coronavirus cases.
The UAE sees highest single day spike of cases
The UAE reported highest single-day spike of 370 positive coronavirus cases and two death on Friday. With this, Emirates’ total coronavirus cases surged to 3,360. Out of the total cases, 2,942 are active cases and 418 have been cured.
The UAE is witnessing a rise in the number of COVID-19 cases each day but yesterday's rise was largest, according to official data.
The new cases, all of whom are in a stable condition and receiving treatment, the Ministry of Health and Prevention said.
Bahrain registers sixth death
A 63-year-old Bahraini died due to covid-19, the ministry of health confirmed on Friday night.
This is the sixth virus related death recorded in the kingdom of Bahrain.
The country confirmed 38 coronavirus cases on Friday and recorded 64 new cases in early Saturday morning, according to a 2.30 am update in Ministry of Health special web page for the COVID, bringing the total cases to 1,002. Of this, 441 are active cases, and 551 have been cured.
Ministry of Health has conducted 58,503 tests so far in Bahrain.
