Manama: Four more people died of coronavirus in Saudi Arabia, pushing the country’s death toll to 38 on Sunday. The infection cases in the Kingdom reached 2,605 on Sunday.
Of the new fatalities, two people died in the city of Jeddah, and two each succumbed to the virus in Khobar and Dawadmi. All the victims’ identities were not released.
A total of 220 people tested positive for the virus in the past 24 hours in the country, according to the Ministry of Health spokesman, Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdel Ali.
Out of 2,605 Covid-19 cases in the Kingdom, 2016 are active and 581 recoveries, he said in a press briefing.
He revealed on Sunday that out of the total confirmed cases, 47 percent are of Saudi patients while 53 percent are expats.
The capital city Riyadh reported the highest number of virus cases as of Monday, with 781 cases. While Makkah reported 502 cases, Jeddah has 388 cases and Madinah confirmed with 252 cases, according to the latest data released by Ministry of Health.
Saudi Arabia’s ministry of interior clamped a curfew for 24-hours in the capital city Riyadh and several big cities to limit the spread of coronavirus.
Meanwhile, few weeks old Saudi baby, Khalid, has recovered from the covid-19 in Saudi Arabia on Monday. The infant, returned to life after underwent treatment in Dawadmi General Hospital in Dawadmi. The baby was transferred to the family’s house for domestic isolation.
This baby, Khalid, became a symbol of confidence amid the coronavirus scare. After Dawadmi General Hospital shared the news on Twitter it went viral on social media.
Saudi nationals as well as foreigners shared the tweets showing the return of Khalid on Twitter. The staff of the Saudi Ministry of Health bestowed flowers to Khalid and his family.
