Pollution levels in Delhi and nearby areas shot to critical levels, despite light showers in different parts of the city.

The Centre indicated that it will keep tabs on the matter.

Delhi remains enveloped in smog and CM Arvind Kejriwal called the situation "unbearable". People were suffering for no fault of theirs, he added.

Several flights have been diverted away from the city owing to poor visibility and air quality that has deteriorated to worst levels, one week after Diwali.

Principal Secretary, PK MIshra reviewed the situation Sunday evening with senior officials from Punjab, Haryana and Delhi.

Authorities in UP's Noida asked schools to remain to stay shut till Tuesday.

The Supreme Court is expected to take up the matter today.
