Manama: Though new COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia continue to drop, the government strongly discourages any gathering together with more than 50 people.
Country’s interior ministry on Saturday elucidated that gatherings or invitations of non-family members of more than 50 people in a limited space is a violation of coronavirus rules.
The interior ministry on Saturday issued a tweet with clarifications of fines imposed on any gathering inside homes, rest houses, farms camps, chalets, or open areas where more than 50 people are attending.
According to the new rule, a fine of SR15,000 will be imposed for the facility and the official, and SR5,000 for attendees and invitees,
A repeat offense will see the facility and official receive double the fine at 30,000 riyals while attendees and invitees will be imposed with 10,000 riyals, the ministry said in its official tweet.
If the violation is repeated for the third time, the fine will be doubled and the official will be referred to the Public Prosecution and attendees and invitees too will be prosecuted, according to a report by the Saudi Gazette.
For first time offence in private sector, it will be closed for a period of three months, and if it is repeated, the facility will be closed for six months.
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health recorded on Saturday 158 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 360,848.
Meanwhile, Saudi continues to see a significant drop in new coronavirus cases and a increase in its recovery rates.
11 more patient died due to coronavirus-related complications, pushing the death tally in to 6,112.
According to the ministry of health 149 new recovery status, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 351,722, with the recovery rate rising to 97.5 percent.

The Jazan region recorded 2 cases and Hail and the Northern Borders regions registered 1 case each.
The remaining cases were detected in different other regions of the Kingdom.
With the steady fall in new infections, the active cases in the Kingdom also dropped to 3,014 out of which 425 were critical cases.
