Gaza :  A city hospital in Gaza packed with wounded and Palestinians seeking shelter was bombed, killing an estimated 500. Hamas blamed Israeli air raid for the attack while Israeli Defence Forces(IDF) said it was rocket misfired by a more radical  Palestinian militant group by the name Islamic Jihad.

The hospital carnage sparked wide outrage including denouncement from US president Joe Biden who directed his national security team to gather details of what exactly happened.

Meanwhile, the massacre triggered protests in cities across the Middle East, including Lebanon, Iran and Turkey. Hundreds of Palestinian protesters hit streets of major West Bank cities including Ramallah, the seat of Palestinian Authority, where they hurled stones at Palestinian security forces who fired back with stun grenades.

Hundreds gathered at French embassy in Beirut, raising Lebanon’s Iran-backed Hezbollah flags and also hurling stones  at the embassy’s main entrance.  Protests were also held at Israel’s embassies in Turkey and Jordan. Hundreds gather to protest outside British and French embassies in Tehran early Wednesday.

Jordan’s foreign minister said his country canceled a regional summit scheduled for Wednesday in Amman where Biden was to meet with Jordan’s king Abdullah II,  Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi.
