Thiruvananthapuram : A major IT glitch wrecked havoc for airliners, hospitals, bankers etc across the globe. Closer home, two flights from Thiruvananthapuram airport and five from Nedumbassery were cancelled for the day.
Flights became grounded after booking, check-in and boarding services of major operators like IndiGo, Akasa Air, SpiceJet, Air India, Vistara etc. failed to function owing to Windows crash. In a statement, IndiGo said there would not be a rescheduling as the crisis stems from a technical issue.
The global Microsoft IT chaos was caused by a failed cybersecurity software update that triggered a series of Windows issues around the globe. Specifically, Falcon Sensor software that was sent to clients caused the Microsoft Windows to crash worldwide and display a blue screen, popularly known as “blue screen of death.”
