Mangaluru : Karnataka Congress General Secretary, PV Mohanan said, invisible help from BJP is moving matters related to the sensational gold smuggling case, currently under investigations by the NIA. The main accused Swapna and Saneep managed to cross state border and reach Bengaluru under lockdown conditions aided by BJP members and not police help, he said. However, a separate probe into any police involvement should be carried out, Mohnan added.
With rapidly rising cases of covid in Karnataka, police checking at border posts for entry into the state are extremely meticulous. It defies logic that Swapna and Sandeep - widely publicised fugitives in the smuggling case - escaped police detection at borders and made their way in, said Mohanan.
Sandeep Nair is a BJP worker. The gang received cross border help from higher echelons in Karnataka’s BJP. Also, the culprits heading to BJP-ruled state of Karnataka instead of choosing Tamil Nadu or other states is also telling, said Mohanan.
It may be recalled that, when NIA zeroed in on the Bengaluru hotel busting the duo's hideout, it did so without information to Karnataka police.
