According to official data, the number of deaths reached 1,614, while the number of people who recovered stands at 1,98,831.
Saudi Arabia remains the country with the most infections - over 1,16,021. About 38 % of the total GCC cases are Saudi Arabia. Qatar has the second largest outbreak in the Gulf with over 24 % cases.
Saudi accounts more than half of all fatalities in the GCC—857 deaths so far.
Over the last 24 hours, 56 people died in the Gulf countries after contracting with the virus. 38 more people died in Saudi Arabia due to covid-19 pandemic. Six more people died in Oman while four people in Kuwait, three each in Bahrain and Qatar, and two in the UAE.
Over the same period, 7,832 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in the GCC, according to official data.
Another 3,733 new infections were reported in Saudi on Thursday. Saudi has seen a sharp rise in the number of new cases for the past several days.
A total of 1,476 new cases were reported in Qatar, while 1,067 in Oman. Cases and deaths have been on the rise in Oman for the past few days. There were 609 Covid-19 cases in Kuwait. The UAE registered 479 more cases and Bahrain registered 468.
The total infections in the GCC now stands as: Saudi Arabia-1,16,021, Qatar-75,071, UAE-40,986, Kuwait-34,432 Oman-19,954 and Bahrain-16,667.
Kuwait is leading in the GCC with the highest numbers of recoveries- over 70 % or 24,137 recoveries out of the total 34,432 cases.
Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar have over 68 % recoveries, while the UAE has 61% of recoveries. In Saudi Arabia, 68.96% or 80,019 people have been cured so far. In Bahrain, the recovery rate is 68.92%. Total confirmed infections are 16,667. Of these, 11,487 were recovered fully.
The UAE and Kuwait are in second and third positions in terms of death rates, respectively. In the UAE death toll was 286 and in Kuwait 279. Oman has 89 deaths so far, while Qatar reported 69 and Bahrain-34.
