Manama: Coronavirus cases and deaths continue to rise in the Gulf, as the total number of infections reached 67,659 and number of deaths related to the virus rose to 380 on Sunday.
The number of active cases stood at 54,474, while 12,805 have been cured. The total cases now stands as Saudi Arabia - 27,011, Qatar-15,551, the UAE - 14,163, Kuwait - 4,983, Bahrain- 3383 and Oman - 2,568.
The six nation block registered a record jump of 20 deaths and 3,313 cases in the last 24 hours.
Saudi Arabia remains the worst-hit country in the Gulf with the total number of cases at 27,011, with 184 deaths. In terms of the number of fatalities, the UAE is the second hardest-hit state and as to cases, Qatar is the second.
Four more Keralites died of coronavirus in the UAE on Sunday, bringing the total number of deaths of Keralites in the gulf to 43. Of these, 34 were in the UAE alone.
A total of seven people died in the UAE due to coronavirus infection on Sunday. The Keralites were identified as Pathanathitta native Thekkeparambil Roshan Ramankutty (59), and Malappuram Tirur native Melathil Ashraf (51) in Abu Dhabi, Kothamangalam native Nisar (37) in Ajman, and Tirur Inringavoor native Saithalavikutty Haji (52) in Duabi.
The total number of coronavirus related-fatalities the UAE rose to 126. The country recorded 564 new cases, pushing the total confirmed cases to 14,163. The total number of recoveries in the UAE reached 2,763.
Meanwhile, eight people, including six expats, lost their lives to coronavirus in Saudi Arabia on Sunday, bringing the total number of deaths to 184. A total of 1,522 new cases confirmed in the country on the same day. The total cases now stands as 27,011, of which 4,134 have recovered, the Ministry of Health said.
Elsewhere in Gulf, five more expats, including two Indians died in Kuwait after contracting coronavirus. The total fatalities from Covid-19 in the country rose to 38. So far, seven Indians in Kuwait were succumbed to the virus.
More than 364 people, including 122 Indians, were confirmed to the virus. With this, the total number of registered cases in Kuwait reached 4,983. Of this, 2,212 were Indians.
Qatar recorded 679 new cases, while Bahrain 99 cases and Oman 85 on Sunday.
