Manama: Coronavirus infections in the Gulf raced towards 75,000 along with a significant increase in the number of deaths.
The total number of virus infections reached 74,844 and the deaths related to the virus rose to 419 on Tuesday.
Of those total cases, 15,160 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
A total of 3,673 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19) and 19 deaths were reported across the six nation block on Tuesday. Saudi Arabia and the UAE reported nine deaths each, while Oman one.
Death toll at 200 in Saudi, while 146 in the UAE, 40 in Kuwait, 13 in Oman, 12 in Qatar and eight in Bahrain.
Saudi’s Covid-19 cases crossed the 30,000-mark on Tuesday, followed by Qatar with 17,142 and the UAE with almost 15,192.
The increase in cases comes as testing has been substantially increased within the gulf.
The total registered coronavirus cases across the gulf stands as: Saudi Arabia- 30,251, Qatar-17,142, UAE-15,192, Kuwait-5,804, Bahrain-3,720 and Oman-2,735.
A total of nine people died in Saudi Arabia due to coronavirus infection on Tuesday, bringing the total number of fatalities to 200. The country recorded 1,595 new cases on the same day, the largest daily spike in the country since the health crisis began.
The total number of recoveries in reached 5,431 after the Saudi recorded 955 recoveries. This was the highest single-day count since coronavirus-related recovery recorded in the country.
Meanwhile, nine people lost their lives to coronavirus in the UAE on Tuesday, bringing the total number of deaths to146. A total of 462 new cases confirmed in the country on the same day. The UAE recorded 3,153 recoveries so far.
The latest cases is an 18.5% drop compared to Monday's 567 coronavirus cases in the country, even as tests had been ramped up.
Elsewhere in Gulf, a 67-year-old national died in Oman after contracting coronavirus. The total fatalities from Covid-19 in the country rose to 13.
In Kuwait, the total number of Covid-19 positive cases has reached 5,804, with more than 526 new cases being recorded on Tuesday. Of the new cases, 195 were Indians and the number of Indians infected of the virus were rose to 2,492.
Qatar recorded 951 new cases, while Oman 98 cases and on Bahrain 41 Tuesday.
