Rome : Italy is on way to ban use of English and other foreign words in official communications. Italians violating the new rule would be fined to up to 100,000 euros (Rs. 82,46,550). The draft bill in this regard was introduced by Prime Minister Georgia Meloni's Brothers of Italy party.
The draft bill blames English language for destroying and demeaning the Italian language. Use of English would be banned in all companies, including acronyms and designation of roles. To foreign companies, the bill requires Italian editions of all internal regulations and contracts. The bill, in the Italian Chamber of Deputies(Lower House), will go for parliamentary debate and if passed by both Houses, will become law.
Meanwhile, Italy had recently announced ban of ChatGPT over what it said was breach of security standards.
