U.S President Joe Biden has withdrawn his relection bid and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in his place. Speaking on Sunday, the president said he will finish his term and address the nation later this week.
Meanwhile, Harris reacted saying she’s ‘honoured’ to receive Biden’s endorsement and vowed to “earn and win” the nomination. If nomination goes through, Kamala Harris, who is of Indian descent, would be the first Black woman and first Asian American to lead ticket of a major political party. Filings have been amended with the Federal Election Commission to rename its principal committee and declare Harris as the presidential candidate.
Even so, there is uncertainty on whether Harris will become the nominee, or what process the party will take to select an alternative.
