Washington: US President Joe Biden will travel to Israel Wednesday and hold talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with aim to prevent the war from engulfing the entire region.
While US backs it’s closest Middle East ally with military support, Biden voiced message against Israel occupation of Gaza saying recapture of Gaza would be a ‘big mistake’.
Biden will also stop in Jordan where he will speak with King Abdullah II, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and Palestinian Authority President Mahmood Abbas,. The trip is slated to last for one day.
Meanwhile, Israel’s bombardment of Gaza continues unabated. UN Secretary General Antonion Guterres called on Hamas to release Israeli hostages immediately and without conditions. He also asked Israel to allow essential services to people of Gaza.
Israel puts number of its citizen hostages by Hamas as 199. Hamas released footage showing one of them.
