London : Chief of UK-based Khalistan Liberation Force, Avtar Singh Khanda, has died in London. The death reportedly occurred in early hours of Thursday at City Hospital in Birmingham.
Khanda was the main suspect in attack on the Indian High Commission headquarters in UK on 19 March. He was also the main handler of Khalistani separatist Amritpal Singh, who he helped evade police for 37 days between March and April. Amritpal Singh, who was born Ranjodh Sing, was key to propagating terror among Sikh youth here. Khanda’s father too was a Khalistan Liberation Force activist and was shot by Indian security forces in 1991.
The exact cause of Avatar Singh's death is unclear. Khanda was undergoing cancer treatment and medical records put that as the malady. However, there are rumours of him having been poisoned. Followng news of his death, Khalistan supporters called Khanda a martyr and accused Indian security agencies as responsible for his death.
