Four Malayalis Die of Covid-19 in Jeddah

Jeddah(Saudi Arabia) : Four Malayalis died from coronavirus in Jeddah on Monday. The deceased were identified as Anjukandi Abdul Salam(58), a Malappuram native from Ramappura;Parassery Ummar(53) a Koilandy Muthvalloor native ;Anjukandan Muhammed Ilias(43), a Kottakkal native from Uthukal and Shamsudeen (42) a Kollam Punalur native. With this, the Covid-19 death toll among Malayalis in Saudi now stands at 24.

 

Abdul Salam and Parasserry Ummar died at King Abdulla Medical Complex in Riyadh. He worked at a fruits processing company in Riyadh’s Halaga.  Salam was hospitalised after contracting the infection in first week of Ramadan. Ummar was a  Samsung employee and was under treatment for nearly a month before the end came.

 

Uthukal native Ilias was first admitted to a private hospital, then a government facility, before succumbing to the virus. Kollam native Shamsudeen died at Sagar hospital, a private facility at Kilopathinal.

 

In Saudi, a total of nine people died from Covid-19 on Monday raising the countrywide death toll to 399. The total number of Covid-19 cases there now figures at 74,795 , a rise of 2235 infections  since Sunday. The country has recorded 45,668 recoveries so far, said the Health Ministry.
