LONDON : A court in England sentenced an Indian-origin man for 15 years imprisonment, for raping and robbing a woman at knife point.
28-year-old Diljeet Grewal met the woman, in her 30s, at her residence in Hillingdon in April this year. The meeting was arranged earlier.
He then pulled out a knife and threatened against raising an alarm, before raping the woman. He then took her phone and demanded cash, which she handed over from her handbag. But the culprit continued to ransack her room looking for more money, before fleeing the residence.
After Diljeet left, the victim called a friend outside UK, who then informed the police.
Police who attended the scene found Diljeet lurking outside the building. He matched the description of the suspect and they nabbed him. The cops then searched around the building and recovered the knife, which the culprit denied was his.
CCTV footage also came in handy and he was charged with rape and aggravated burglary.
