Rabat : Morocco’s deadliest earthquake has claimed more than 1000 lives so far. Doctors urged more donors to volunteer blood as they scramble to treat the huge inflow of injured victims into hospitals in Marrakesh.
The 6.8 magnitude quake struck a mountainous area 72 kilometers(45 miles) southwest of tourist hotspot Marrakesh on Friday night 11:11 pm, tremors of which rippled through coastal cities of Rabat, Casablanca and Essaouira.
1204 people were injured in the disaster including 721 whose condition is critical. The quake - Morocco’s biggest in 120 years - has left widescale damage and devastation in its wake.
