Manama: Mosques in Bahrain will reopen for the fajr (dawn), dhuhr (noon) and asr (afternoon) prayers from today.
Precautionary measures to ensure the safety of the worshippers must be taken during the prayers.
The decision was based on the recommendations of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and the National Medical taskforce for combating the COVD-19 and following consultations with the Sunni and Jaafari endowments, the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry said in a statement.
The ministry said that decisions would be subject to periodic review based on developments. It also urged to abide by the precautionary measures to ensure the safety of all.
Bahrain suspended congregational and Friday prayers across the country on March 23 after mosques were closed to combat the spread of the coronavirus.
Fajr prayers were allowed back in mosques on August 28, while Dhuhr on November 1 and Asr on December 6.
However, prayers at mosques were suspended on February 11 to protect the elderly in light of surging infections.
