Manama: Oman has exempted tourists from the mandatory quarantine and pre-flight PCR test for Covid-19, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism said.
All tourists, who wish to travel to Oman, are not required to conduct a PCR test before arriving in Oman, the ministry said in a statement.
According to the new rule, tourists have to undergo a PCR test upon arrival only. The new travel rule is based on the instructions received from the Ministry of Health.
The move follows the country’s decision allowing nationals from 103 countries to enter Oman for a 10-day stay without a pre-entry visa. ‘
The period of stay in Oman must be less than two weeks, the statement added.
All tourists are required to have international health insurance that covers COVID-19 treatment cost for the duration of their stay, it said.
Oman has begun reissuing tourist visas to people visiting on trips arranged by hotels or travel agencies.
Before coming to the country, tourists will have to register for the Covid-19 test that will take place on arrival at the country’s airports, on the emushrif.om. covid19 page, and upload the Tarassud Plus program of the Ministry of Health,” the statement clarified.
Tourists should isolate themselves in their rooms and not to share rooms or mix with others until the PCR test result appears.
According to the guidelines, they should not go out for tourist activities except through the tourism agency. They are also required to follow the procedures and adhere to the preventive precautionary measures.
The ministry said the period of stay in the Sultanate should be less than two weeks.
This comes as part of country’s ongoing efforts to reopen the economy amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
