Manama: Oman will resume international and domestic flight services starting from October 1, which will allow residents with valid visas to enter the country, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said in a statement.

Residents with valid visas do not need prior approval to enter the country, CAA said in a statement on Thursday.

According to the Coronavirus Travel Guide published by the authority, Omani citizens and expats with valid residences are allowed to enter the Sultanate without the need of prior approval.

Covid-19 PCR test is mandatory for all incoming passengers and to pay OMR 25 for the test, CAA said. The test will be done at airports upon arrivals and children of age 15 years or less and cabin crews are exempted from the test, they added. All of the arrivals will be subjected to the COVID-19 PCR test.

All people arriving in the Sultanate shall download the “Tarassud Plus” App before arriving or on arrival in Oman. All arrivals to Oman for a period up to seven days shall register in the Tarassud Plus App, while arrivals for a period of eight days or more are obligated to wear Tarassud Plus bracelet and quarantine themselves for a period of 14 days, the Travel Guide added. Aircraft crew and children of age 15 years and below are exempted from COVID-19 PCR test,” the Travel Guide added. Foreigners coming to Oman must also ensure their accommodation during the 14-day quarantine period

Furthermore, CAA said that all visitors are required to have health insurance that covers the costs of treatment with Covid -19 for a period of one month.

Early this week, the Supreme Committee permitted stranded residents holding valid visas to return to the country starting from October 1.

The move comes after more than six months of COVID-19 precautionary measures as thousands of expatriate residents have been stranded abroad since the suspension of international flights in March.

Oman suspended international flights on March 29 in order to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus. As a result, thousands of expat residents have been stranded abroad.

The new move will also allow the stranded expats in India to return to Oman.

Domestic flights between the capital Muscat and the city of Salalah will also resume by 1st October.
