Road accident kills two Kerala nurses in Saudi; injures three

Manama: Two Malayalee nurses were killed and three others injured after two vehicles collided head-on in Saudi Arabia’s southwestern province of Najran.

The deceased have been identified as Kottayam native Shincy Philip (28), and Thiruvananthapuram native Ashwathi Vijayan (31). Both of them were nurses of King Khalid hospital in Najran.

Keralites Sneha and Rinzi, both nurses of King Khalid Hospital, and car driver Ajith were admitted to Najran Hospital and King Khalid Hospital. A hospital source said the two nurses suffered serious injuries and shifted to the ICU.

The accident occurred on Friday evening when a vehicle rammed into the nurses’ car. The car was completely wrecked due to the crash.

The bodies have been kept Thar General Hospital Mortuary. The bodies will be flown down to Kerala and social workers and United Nurses Association officials are there to finish the necessary formalities.

Police launched an investigation into the crash.

Najran, which shares a border with Yemen, is 989 km away from the capital Riyadh.
