Samastha has once again signaled its disapproval of UDF’s alliance with Jamaat-e-Islamia’s Welfare Party. The Muslim League too has its share of responsibility for the newly-found partnership, said Ummarfazi, leader of Samastha Kerala Jammiat-ul-Ulema.
Congress should clarify its stand on the front’s tie-up with Welfare Party. League will end up losing its face in the arrangement. The alliance will also damage Congress’s reputation. Our community will be ruined if Jamaat is nurtured to grow. They are a religious party, banned several times over. While deciding on this sudden partnership, the League and Congress leadership must not forget what caused those bans. The move is raising deep concerns among large sections of our community, said Ummar Fazi in his article in Deshabhimani.

The alliance will provide opportunity for Jammat-e-Islami to washdown its taints. Their influence among members of community is negligible. In the event of such alliance, their rampages would assume the League banner. They are opposed to secularism. The public largely view them as fundamentalists. They are goaled to work toward Hukumat-elahi governance. And, to this day, Jammat has not hinted any change to its communal polarization policy. An association of this kind should not be forged merely for sake of four panchayat seats or power thereof.
There are several who view Jamaat as another version of RSS. Joining hands with them will eventually serve to strengthen RSS. That would be a setback for both Islamic as well as secular-minded community in the state. Samastha has a tradition of assuming uncompromising stand against NDF, Popular Front, SDPI and other such outfits of religious terror. And, the present situation countrywide warrants that approach more than ever.
Samsta will hold its Mushwara meeting on 8th, Wednesday. League-Jammat alliance is not on the agenda however, the topic is likely to be discussed by the members, Ummar Fazi wrote.
