Manama: The Saudi-led coalition fighting the Iranian-aligned Houthi militia in Yemen on Tuesday said it destroyed a ramparted cache of ballistic missiles and launchers in Sa’dah, in north-western Yemen, local media reported.
The operation came in the wake of a series of attacks by the Houthi group. Earlier on Monday, the militia fired two ballistic missiles toward the southern Saudi city of Khamis Mushait from Sa’dah. The missiles landed in two uninhabited areas near the Kingdom’s southern border, according to a statement from the coalition.
On the same day, the coalition intercepted and destroyed a drone launched towards the Khamis Mushait.
A spokesperson for the coalition said their military operations abide by international humanitarian law and its customary rules and take measures to neutralise and destroy sources of threat to protect civilian people and infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the coalition on Tuesday intercepted a Houthi drone targeting Saudi Arabia’s Khamis Mushait for the second day running.
The coalition reiterated that it is taking all operational measures to protect civilians from extremist attacks in line with international law.
The Houthis have stepped up the cross-border drone and missile attacks on Saudi cities recently, mostly targeting the southern part of the country, which borders Yemen. The Kingdom has intercepted hundreds of drones and ballistic missiles fired from Yemen so far.
