NEW DELHI : A third Indian crew member has tested positive for novel coronavirus aboard the cruise ship, Diamond Princess. The condition of all three ship-borne Indians are ‘stable and improving’ said Indian Embassy officials in Tokyo.

The British cruise ship, Diamond Princess, is docked at Yokohoma in Japan, being quarantined following rapid rise in coronavirus on its decks. Of 3,700 passenger and crew members aboard, nearly 220 have tested positive for the virus.

The ship is carrying 138 Indians, two of whom were confirmed with the infection yesterday, 14 Feb. Frantic appeals  including those on social media were sent out by passengers asking help to be able to go home.

Japan on Thursday allowed 11 passengers unaffected by the virus to deboard the ship and take up lodging in government-designated isolation camp. The bus carrying these individuals had windows blacked out and the driver dressed head-to-toe in white protective suit complete with goggles and mask.
