Manama : The UAE will issue a new remote work visa for professionals from all over the world to reside in the country, even if their companies are based out of the country.
The UAE cabinet also approved multiple-entry tourist visa for all nationalities.
The decision was ratified on Sunday during a cabinet meeting chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The new resolutions are among several initiatives approved by the cabinet during a meeting chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Sunday to position the UAE as an ideal work and tourist destination.
The remote working programme would be valid for a year, and could be renewed successively for a similar duration each time, according to the cabinet.
The virtual work visa was launched by the emirate of Dubai in October last year, which allow overseas remote working professionals to relocate and live in Dubai along with their families while continuing to work remotely for their overseas employer.
The one-year Remote Work Visa aims to attract talents and expertise from all over the world. It allows them to work remotely while living in the UAE under self-sponsorship.
The remote work visa is considered to be the first of its kind in the region, which aims to enhance the competitiveness of the countries tourism sector and support the federal economy. It provides the opportunity for entrepreneurs and talents to explore in emirates’ safe and attractive business environment.
The new scheme aims to support the public and private sector, boost the work-life balance, improve productivity and enhance the business environment.
The Multiple Entry Tourist Visa will be valid for five-years and on self-sponsorship. It will allow tourists to enter multiple times and remain in the country for 90 days on each visit, which can be extended for another 90 days.
